As Founding Director of Radio Awaz in 1996. this came about with my love for Dj’ing at school before helping out Hospital Radio in Dundee and then moving onto Glasgow with BBC Eastern Echoes, Student Radio – Subcity Radio, Q96 and various RSL’s.

in September 1997 Radio Awaz with the help of a few friends (Shabana, Ali, Iqbal and Chris) we were able to broadcast to the city of Glasgow on 105.4fm

In 2001 and with the amalgamation of a few individuals and groups (Radio Awaz, Radio Sangeet, Bubble FM) – The new team were successful in the Radio Authority Access Pilot Trial (1 of 15 others stations in the UK) and in 2004 the Government passed legislation for the third tier of radio – called Community Radio to begin. Awaz FM officially operated as a full-time Community Radio in 2005. Today there are over 275 Community Radio Stations in the UK. Further information: www.awazfm.co.uk

Setting up Community Radio Stations is my passion. Giving local people to become local voices on local community media platforms. Being a lad from Paisley, I’ve spent over 10+ years trying to set up a community station for Paisley. (Thank you to the team who previously had FPR 106.6fm) for Further information: www.paisleyfm.co.uk
